This product is designed as a modular system focused on seamless usability and consistent user experience. By streamlining workflows within each module, users can complete tasks faster and with minimal friction. A unified visual language across the platform ensures an intuitive and cohesive journey, making daily interactions more efficient and effortless.

User need

This project aims to redesign the existing product to help users navigate and utilize each module through a clear, efficient, and consistent flow. The goal is to create a system that is easy to understand with a uniform visual style to reduce confusion during module transitions. By simplifying user flows, enhancing information readability, and unifying the visual language, the product is built to deliver a smoother and more comfortable user experience.

My Task

In my role as a UI/UX Designer, I served as the primary liaison between TnS Agency and PNEP (PT Pelayaran Nasional Ekalya Purnamasari). I focused on the end-to-end redesign process and the development of new modules from the ground up, ensuring a seamless alignment between agency vision and client requirements.

This suite of modules is built upon a new Design System foundation, ensuring visual consistency and a uniform navigational experience across all functions, from data management to operational monitoring.

Work Flow The Team

The success of this project was driven by the synergistic collaboration between the TnS Agency and PNEP teams. Our workflow ranged from an in-depth discovery phase and brainstorming sessions to tackle complex challenges, to intensive coordination with relevant divisions to gather operational field data. This approach ensured that every design solution we delivered was perfectly aligned with real-world user needs.

The Problem

Through a collaborative discovery phase with the TnS team, we identified critical challenges in the current system:

  • Redundant User Flows: Complex navigation that complicates the user journey.
  • Design Inconsistency: Lack of a documented style guide or design system.
  • Poor Usability: Ambiguous UI components and a non-intuitive interface.
  • System Gaps: Missing states and incomplete flows within the existing architecture.

These insights were shared with the company to drive data-informed decisions. Along with the analysis, we provided design solutions focused on enhancing the platform's functionality and operational efficiency.

The Solution

To address the identified challenges, we proposed the following strategic solutions:

  • Integrated Design System: Developing a comprehensive design system and style guide to ensure visual and functional consistency across all modules.
  • User Flow Streamlining: Redesigning system flows for simplicity and ensuring interaction elements (buttons) are intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Closing Architectural Gaps: Identifying and designing missing pages or system states to ensure a complete and seamless user journey.
  • UX Writing & Localization: Enhancing microcopy, system commands, and instructional text, while standardizing the entire platform into English for a more professional global standard.
  • Enhanced Status Indicators: Improving feedback loops through structured status indicators to provide clear information during data processing.
  • Layout & Hierarchy Optimization: Refining content layouts and information architecture to improve readability and scannability.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: To ensure alignment between the digital interface and real-world operations, we collaborated closely with the client to gather field-workflow data. This discovery process allowed us to curate content and refine system flows that are truly effective and functional for the respective divisions.
